WiLN (Women in Leadership Network) in Bhutan was established by the Australia Alumni Association on 8th March 2017 with a strong commitment to empowering women. One of their notable initiatives, “Project Empowerment,” was launched in 2019 with the goal of supporting 12 underprivileged girls from Zhemgang, a remote district in Bhutan. The project began with a fundraising event aimed at providing financial assistance and mentorship to help these girls pursue their educational and career aspirations.
Over the years, WiLN has continued to support these young women, not only financially but also through ongoing mentorship. This holistic approach aims to empower them to achieve their academic goals and develop skills for their professional lives.
This year, under the theme “Inspire Inclusion,” WiLN plans to expand on Project Empowerment and introduce a new initiative called the “Mentorship Support” program. This program is designed to assist individuals in preparing to foster inclusion across various aspects of their personal and professional endeavors. It will provide mentorship opportunities aimed at equipping participants with the necessary tools and guidance to promote diversity and inclusion within their communities and workplaces.
WiLN’s efforts underscore their dedication to advancing gender equality and empowerment in Bhutan, leveraging their network and resources to create meaningful impact and support women in achieving their full potential.
